Old stately farmhouses are found along little old back roads where the roe deer nervously cross your path and the
bird of prey soars high above the farmlands.

In the fishing village Termunterzijl is a sealock with een masonry stone bridge from 1725 named "Boog van Ziel",
and in the town Slochteren lies the medieval manor Freylemaborg.
